They are brilliant at removing crap.I’ve got one of those ultrasonic cleaners. I occasionally put my watch and some of Mrs Motties jewellery in it. The crap that comes out - unbelievable!

I bought some ultrasonic cleaning fluid to add to the water but a little drop of washing up liquid is just as good.They are brilliant at removing crap.

Not for bike chains unfortunately, ive tried pure degreaser, but that's pants aswell and hard to dispose of...I bought the proper fluid to add to the water but a little drop of washing up liquid is just as good.
Get the rear wheel off the ground on a maintenance stand and turn the pedal as the chain runs over the brush, top, bottom and both sides of it.
For the motorbike, I adapted a pair of old toothbrush heads, both mounted face to face hinged on a bit of steel for the job - so it cleaned off both sides at the same time.
