Our goverment of occupation takes, in taxes, over half half the money we pay at the pumps for petrol and diesel. When the petrol price goes up, it still takes the same tax percentages, and so the present fuel price rises are providing the goverment with a large windfall.

They are making an extra £190 millions a week out of this. Note that is EXTRA...I.e. on top of the amount if tax they would normally rake in from us.

The calculations:

Hegseth and his insider dealing trader are thrilled with Trump's price hikes. Lucky for Pete, he had the heads up, and knew when Trump was going to inflate the price of oil.

Something that is not being reported in the mainstream media is that there are fuel protests going on.

I'm going to be controversial, and am somewhat thinking out loud... I think driving is too cheap. Too many people are planning to live and work ridiculous distances apart and are spending stupid amounts of time, money and pollution just living their daily lives. I know some of it is unavoidable, but many are deliberately setting themselves up like this, often so they can earn where wages are higher and live where costs are lower. If fuel was say £3-£4 a litre then they'd make different choices.

The govt needs to find a way of letting industry pay a lower price for fuel than individuals. Perhaps remove road tax on trucks for starters.

I want to go back to the days when we rode a bike to the local factory.
