Other than the smoking, I'm fully on board.
UK holidays are great, very good for the economy.
You couldn't get a bottle of milk because everyone was having a rest.
Lower life expectancy made pensions affordable, it was never meant to be a state-funded 20 year holiday. The pension age should now be much higher to reflect it, people need to work longer or save while working.
To put that into perspective that is just over half the amount that was promised on the side of a red bus...
Money that of course never appeared...
Conversely it is just under 1/10 of what the UK is losing because of brexit...
Of course that petrol tax revenue will also fall when the oil price falls...
The losses from brexit on the other hand will just keep on rising unless a deal is done...

The NHS have received significantly more than an extra £350 million per week and that excludes covid money.
