I doubt it's as easy as you think to get hold of a gun illegally...

And the perpetrators of most of the massacres in the UK did so with legally held weapons...

Banning weapons drastically reduces the number being held by the general population, and hence drastically reduces the number getting into the hands of the nutjobs in society...

I'd rather live in a society where guns are restricted than in a society where innocent people are 'punished' by having their lives taken by legally held weapons!
