Yes, he should have tried an approved one.

Since video was made before 27th there were no inverters approved in this country, second one he tried was approved for use in Germany, so should have been OK.

Seems pretty straightforward to me, one household is one that is fed from one supply with one consumer unit.

Many laws have different definitions for the same words and phrases, it depends of what the law is intended to regulate.

Yes indeed the law does have differing definitions fo a word or phrase according to the usage in that particular case.
My solicitor consulted a specialist solicitor about motor car law for me.

Basically a phrase such as "being used on a public road" in regards to car tax requirements as opposed to needing an MOT or insurance.
Simply put one definition of a "public road" related to a road being created/maintained by public funds yet the other definition was to whether the public had access (such as a residential road or a car park etc).

One chappy I know mentioned having a drink or three at the club on a large caravan site before driving back to his caravan. When I reminded him about Drink Driving he replied "It`s not a public Road"/
I do not know whether his statement was not being a public road made it legal or alternatively reduced his chance of being stopped by a police presence.
Still an idiot in my opinion no matter which way his belief went.

presumably the prongs on the plug are not at 240v (although when cheap knock off from china arrives - lol)
so i guess the panels need to recognise they are plugged into a 240v system before they can switch on ? which would mean they can never be used during a power cut ?

I would guess most people with an ounce of intelligence would have understood my post - the prongs on the plug will not be at 240v when not pugged in, i wonder what safeguards this rather important requirement, and I wonder if i s this that caused the great delay in them being passed as safe! (and will the inevitable cheap Chinese knock off’s be as safe)

The product standard and approved testing and approval procedure, just like existing hard wired solar systems.

So if I fit multi consumer units I can have multi plug in units, OK, I know it means per DNO electric meter. But it seems the law writer was not an English student.

If it is one kit per CU then my son can't have one, as still using two fuse boxes. (Supplied from two RCDs) or at least he did when he bought the house.

Seems Octopus will not use the existing CU for an EV socket, they fit a second one.

So you can plug in a 40 kWh battery into the V2G EV outlet and it can send electric in either directions, and if using an EV motorhome, then that could mean plug in solar as well, which could exceed the 800 watt limit, by a massive amount.

So when talking we should be saying "Plug-in BS1363 solar" as we also have V2G EV which is also Plug-in "generation" and I still can't work out how a secondary cell battery can be called a generator?

Yes being perdantic, but that's the whole problem, if some one wants to have 4 plug in solar kits, (5 would need G99 not G98) then they will try and twist the wording to suit what they want to do. You have seen the argument before, I can fit a 150 amp distrubution unit DIY as it's not classed as a consumer unit? We all realise some one used the wrong word, the Part P should have called it a distrubution unit, so it covered all, but again, was that done so there was a back door for those who could read English. Sorry my Welsh is not good enough to read Welsh version, which would not help, as what ever the name, not allowed in Wales anyway.

But we all know what the intension was, it should say per DNO head, not per household. But with no battery, over 800 watt is a bit pointless, as just giving it away.

Again the ENA type test register may tell us what we can fit, but I am really going to stand there in Lidi and check the kit is on the register, if not on the register the result is easy to work out, I will simply not submit a G98. Until completing the G98 means second MPAN number is issued, and we get paid for export, why would anyone bother filling it in?

It's a starting point, a decision after they have taken account of all of the public consultation and separate investigations/testing. You might not agree with it, not everyone who responded to the consultation did. Some thought the proposals didn't go far enough, some thought they were just about right and some thought it was unsafe whatever things were put in place.

if you don't think it is worthwhile currently then just don't buy one.

I was thinking of getting ours converted to work off grid - would seem daft to be sitting here in the dark dring a power cut with 20 solar panels and two full batteries - but that is exactly what would happen. and in an ever more uncertain world with a more uncertain climate - we cant rule out power cuts
