Fuel Duty Downing Street Petition

The Government can afford to lower the petrol prices which has nothing to do with it because the middle east suppliers say they are struggling to cope with the world demand, putting petrol up will slow the demand down however painful it is.

It's up to the European Council of Minister in the EU which decided that England petrol to come down or not. Blair & Brown had no choice because it was them that voted this agreement with the EU in the 2000 because the EU collect 2% of the petrol tax duty.

which brings us back to public transport, pack more bodies on the same vehicle and lower demand for fuel

Can someone remind me why I should pay any tax on anything? my kids go to private school, we have private healthcare and our own private pensions (second rented property)
I don't mind road tax, to pay for the roads and council tax to pay for the police and bin men but I don't see why I should pay any income tax or VAT or insurance premium tax, tabaco/alcohol duty...I am a bit drunk maybe thats why I can't remember why I pay all this money to a bunch of s***s who I didn't even vote for (we need proportional representation) who steal it for their retirement and use the power they have to p**s me off and cause me more trouble. :?:

What am I saying? It's NOT o.k to charge me duty on fags and drink - I pay higher healthcare premiums as it is!! AND I'd rather the roads were all toll roads so those who do 100k miles a year in 4x4 mitsubishi pay their fare share - not just the same as a single mum who drives to tesco twice a week in a sh1tty cavalier.

I have a relevant question. Tax is charged higher on beers wines and spirits (BWS). So how come at the supermarket on the bottom of the till reciept there isn't a seperate VAT breakdown for BWS (as there is on everything else at 17.5%) I can only assume the extra tax on BWS is paid by the suppliers or manufacturers? :?

Or have I got it very, very wrong?
