incorrect meter labelling

that was the point of my post, i don't think they are sure whos meter belongs to who

I said it once and I'll say it again turn your meter off, either you still have gas or you don't. rocket science don't think so.

I agree... This is not a difficult problem to solve... Don't forget that it is important to know where you can turn YOUR gas supply off in an emergency.

As the post above advises its probably not a good idea to start isolating gas supplies just willy nilly.I can work the bill out from the diffference and work out its cost that parts not difficult, but I'm unsure whether the neighbour has taken original reading when she moved in and also how on earth they are going to work out the billing for this.I think I'll wait until he gets his supplier to ascertain which supply is which.

His bill will have a number which matches the number on the meter.

All he has to do is take the bill to the meter, find the right number and turn it off. A brisk walk back upstairs and try the cooker assuming it's a gas cooker of course, best to turn boiler of first to save purging it later.

I find it hard to know which bit of the above advice you don't seem able to understand

Get your neighbour with you, then turn off all appliances in her flat, turn yours on and see which meter is registering gas usage.

FFS it's not rocket science

Surely the object of the exercise is to prove whether you have the right meter or not. Turn the dam thing off and you will find out.

Think you are part of a wind up boys as surely nobody can be this stupid , that they would not just turn each meter off to check..

Well I appear to be getting conflicting advice. Some telling me t isolate my meter and Kirkgas advising me not go just go start isolating meters. Its not in my interest to sort this problem as to who's meter is who's as the meter I currently have been billed for is half that of the one my neighbours been build for.So I'll have another 2 years worth of bills to pay.

So what's the point of posting on here, are you waiting for everyone to have a whipround?

It is in your interest as if you smelled gas one day you would not know which meter to turn off = KABOOM

Perhaps it could be the kindest thing for him.. And if his neighbour survives, he'll get a shed load of cash back too

Someone tell me this isn't a hoax...

Just wondering how on earth they are going to work out the billing and provide proof of who's is who's meter. Also how they are likely to charge me for this?Am I liable for the charges if the both suppliers have made such a grave error for so long.
No Im not after a wip around :) , but it's going to hit me in the pocket at bad time.
