Hi folks.

Anyone here work for Ideal? I have an interview with them soon, just after some pointers for it really.

Cheers all

The last Ideal engineer who came on here only lasted about 1 month, then got fed up with the abuse about c**p products :(

Pity really as it would have been very handy having an Ideal engineer on here.

After all the abuse their products get, I have to say today I had one of the best Ideal engineers out that I have ever met. If all their employees were like him the company would soon get back on top again.

Fingers crossed I'll be able to help.

Applied with Baxi but there not taking on down in Cornwall ATM, so thought I'd give Ideal a go.

What was that for Dave?

To Al, learn as much about the Ideal boilers past and present so that you can talk knowledgeably.

Be prepared for questions like how do you measure the burner pressure on an ideal response?

Tony

I know one of the senior tech men from Ideal, dont try to bluff it or get out of your depth. Just show a good understanding and the willing abillity to learn, do agree with Tony, reaserch wont hurt. Are you any good on Vailants?, Charlie was there head honcho before he defected to Ideal.

dunno about the field but dave whatshisface is the best bloke they have on the phone, if there is anything he doesnt know about ideal boilers it isnt worth knowing. he's got me through a few good boiler capers.

Been researching over the past couple of evenings, doesn't seem to bad. Not to bad with Vaillants, except the older sine etc

Trouble i'll have is getting it from my grey matter to exit my mouth in some kind of sense, I can repair/test 'things' but trying to explain my actions is a different matter.

apparently there is a 2 week training period, but Ideal boilers don't look to difficult to work on.

Long running saga, that hopefully is now solved. Not really my concern as it is 2 years out of warranty, but stupid me still try to look after my customers long term

When I was up at Hull, the Ideal training course was 3 weeks and the engineers who attend all put on at least a stone in weight from th hotel food and beer  so I was told.

I look forward to it  still trying to loose it after christmas and being ill

Ive worked for them for the past 3 months,my "interview" was a pretty relaxed affair, and was offered the job on the spot.Weve only had the HE training thus far,as theres enough work,as every new site in my area, and theres a huge amount, have Ideal boilers fitted,as well as supplying the boilers for Warmfront installations, where if its an Eaga job we maintain and repair the complete system, not just the boiler.
When/if its a bit quieter,we will be going back to Hull for the training on the older stuff.

I doubt you will have many quite spells working repairing Ideals

Good luck with the job al and hope you stick around on this forum but i doubt you will get time as you will be very busy

We have a new Minimiser and offered thisnas a cheap install to replace the same boiler.

I asked Ideal if they would still give the warrantee on this boiler. They said NO !!!

Definately not a caring company. Why not consider working for another rmanufacturer?

Its probably doubtful that they would get away with that in law but the client is a Somali with limited adminstrative skills to take the case further!

Baxi aren't taking on in Cornwall at the moment, still awaiting to hear from Worcester, who according to one of their engineers is taking on in Cornwall. Also applied to the British Antarctic Survey, they require plumbers/heating engineers. Any other companies/ideas greatly fully recieved :D

During the interview they banged on about how they like customer care etc, can't see why they wouldn't warrantee it, as it's new.
