I see that a top Dr is calling for 17 - 20 yr old drivers to have a zero alcohol limit whic h is a good idea IMHO. I think they should go further than this and restrict under 25s to 1000 cc cars or less. :D

I would like to put this idea forward to the relvevant dept so who should I contact? :D

ALL drivers should have a zero alcohol limit not merely the younger ones. Vast majority of drink/drivers locally to me are much older than 20!!

Agree on the restrictions - same basis as that for newly-made motorcyclists

I agree with the zero drinking tolerance. Most by me are 30+ (I wait for them to be gone from the pub for 10 minutes before I leave)
But, even though I am only 22, I do agree with the engine size limit for passenger cars.

But what about us young 'uns that drive buses and lorries?
And I think I'd be hard pressed to find a 1 litre estate or a van

Yep there would have to be some leeway for those. Like most things there would have to be exceptions. I was assuming the OP meant 'normal' cars as opposed to work vehicles and the like.

There could also be exemptions/exceptions for those who are under the set limit but have undertaken additional approved training.

Nice debate!!! :D

If they are going to be restricted to under 1000cc can we also ban them from the motorway too please?

Cars like that remind me why I hate being behind an old style ford fiesta. :D

Gets a no vote from me too
It might be ok for a city driver who has nice flat roads, around here is a different story.

i voted no, and on the zero alcohol limit, arnt diabetics a problem here? im not sure if it is actually but some disease makes it appear that you have had half pint or something, im sure they had to raise the zero limit in sweden for this problem.

Pathetic ideas. Paticularly the 1000cc one. I fail to see what it would achieve.

Their 0-60 time may be reduced buy a couple of Secs. but their still capable of doing 90+

Still capable of easily speeding around town. All their stupid little boy racer cars arent much more than 1.2ltr anyway.

Its the driver thats the problem not the car.

I also dont agree with the zero tolerance. They could easily fail a test if they've had just a few pints the night before or eaten some food with small ammounts of alcohol in.

Its the acceleration these morons enjoy and restricting them to 1000 cc cars would stop them showing off.

If you have a better idea.............. :D

Alternatively, in the yellow corner I give you the Caterham Fireblade, and in the green corner a 1930 Bentley 8 litre....
