Oil that is present in the air pipes ( including the throttle body) will also be present to some degree in the intercooler. If you can find it, its worth taking the pipes off and checking if oil drips out.
John :)

hi
do you mean inside the finned intercooler radiator itself or just from the hose to the intercooler radiator ? what does it mean if oil does or does not drip out ? is this to further diagnose a faulty turbo ?

thanks !

Going by eBay sold prices I reckon about £5-600 if you're lucky.

Got rid of my 05 Megane 1.9 diesel a few years back, spent about £500 getting it through its MOT in March, p/x it for £500 the following June! Should of just cut me losses on that one, we've all been there.

Disconnect the intercooler pipes and let any residual oil drain away....if there is none, then all the better!
John :)

Mottie will be able to clarify this one.
1st July 2008 onwards only for diesels (1st July 2003 for petrol). I believe the OP's car is a '57 plate so MIL not working wouldn’t be a fail on that car. BTW, I haven’t done an MOT since Dec last year when my mates garage (where I was registered) was sold and demolished.

thank you for that information, I didn't think it was applicable ot my car as otherwise I'd have thoguht it would have been mentioned in at least 1 of the 3 mot's it has had

Gave up reading the whole post.

Did you sort your hot brake and droning noise?

the droning noise still persists and is probably a bad driveshaft bearing as a lad at kwik fit diagnosed. The previous few times I checked the calipers they seemed to be remaining cool, rarely they get hot but I am still checking on those.

I will be replacing the front discs and pads soon and as the car is now at over 200k on the odometer I may consider replacing the calipers as well

Hey John.

Over last few days or week, I noticed no oil leaking from under the throttle body which I a confused about ? It is dry whereas it was leaking oil previously as I woyd feel underneath and there would be fresh black oil and I'd clean it off but later in the day it would be leaking again, yet for days it has not leaked ?

any ideas what going on ? thanks

The throttle body will only fill up with oil as the car is used......maybe you just havent done enough miles yet?

You shouldn’t be driving the car with a bad bearing. If it seizes, it’ll do all sorts of damage and might well cause a crash.
