Hi

I wanted to find a tile paint suitable for using in a shower. Have found Ronseal product, but not the colour I would like.

I'd really like some sort of silver or metallic effect. Or even a pearlescent.

Is it possible to buy this kind of colour in a suitable paint?

Some of the grouting has become porous so I need to know if ere is a product I should use to seal the tiles grout first.

Many thanks for your help.

No such thing.

Any tile paint is marginal at best, it will chip fairly easily, and even if properly applied will still look like tiles with paint over them.
Properly meaning the tiles have been completely cleaned from any and all residues of grease, detergent and whatever else, and the grout is 100% perfect with no gaps, holes or worn parts, and the tiles and grout are completely dry with no trace of moisture whatsoever.

If the grout is failing, the solution is to rake it all out and put new grout in.
If the tiles are failing or loose, the solution is to remove the lot, repair/replace the background and install new tiles.

Painting over such things will make it far worse.

OK - this is a bit of additional information.

Where the grouting had become porous was at the bottom of the shower near the tray. The mosaic tiles in this area had come loose. We had to do a temporary fix due to finances. Grout was applied all over the bottom tiles about 8 inches all the way round the bottom of the shower. When the grout had fully dried we applied a Ronseal Tile paint over the whole area. The colour was an off white and looked a real mishmash against the tile tray and the tiles above. This was done in July 18. It has held perfectly, no leaks whatsoever. 4 people showering daily. There is no damage to the tile paint from cleaning either.

I discovered a grey satin ronseal tile paint and repainted the whole of the tiled walls and repainted the walls in the bathroom. It looks pretty nice and if the shower holds out for another 6 months, I should be in the position to rip the shower out and start over.

For anyone seeking a temporary fix, I'd recommend this.

Can you perhaps post pictures and confirm what it looks like one year on. This is exactly what I will be doing this weekend with hubby

Hi

It's almost two years on, the tile paint is still in excellent condition, no leaks or chips at all. I am busy at the moment but if I get time I will update with some pictures. I used the grey ronseal tile paint.
