After all the Brexit promises and all the talk of fishing, I've trawled through 1,200 pages of the deal and I cannot find any net benefit.

It's not about seeing anything in plaice now, it's about restoring the sole of the industry for the future. But don't worry, the Brexiters will be along with another line to try to hook us with.

I see what you did there.

I think it's complicated, some of our fishing representatives are claiming we have been sold down the river, the Scots are angry (no change there) but fishermen in Newlyn don't seem to be too unhappy about it. I'm guessing it's not just about quotas but 'species' which affect areas differently.

Then I read something like:
Brexit: The fishing industry reacts to the trade deal - not a sellout but not a Christmas bonanza either | ITV News
There’s little doubt that some of the EU nations are facing big losses over time.
Gerard van Balsfoort is Chairman of the European Fisheries Alliance, he said: "It is clear from what we know that this is a dark day for the European fishing industry.
"The loss of a significant part of our fishing rights, built up over many generations of fishermen, is a huge blow that leaves thousands of livelihoods hanging in the balance.
"On top of this, the extremely short transition period leaves us facing further uncertainty and hardship in the very near future”.Nathanël Middlekoop is an Alderman in the Dutch fishing village of Urk, he said: "The EU as a whole transfers 1.6 billion of fishing rights to the UK.
"For the Dutch fishing sector this means hundreds of millions in loss.
"[We are] relieved there is a deal, but with heavy losses."

And then I read about the fishermen in Donegal.
We will lose out dramatically from this Brexit deal, say Donegal fishermen | Belfast News Letter

The UK-EU deal has failed Irish fishermen, says a group based in Donegal.

I think overall Our negotiators did well, some people say they should have done better, but the question is, if there is no net benefit to the UK, why are the Dutch and Irish getting their knickers in a twist, how have they lost so much if we've gained so little.

Also, to be fair mate, if you couldn't find the bits about the ECJ, you ain't got a hope finding any facts on fishing.

You made it look very easy prior to the deal with some simple pictures of Boris holding various fish.

Ah, that reminds me.(y)

I find that hard to believe. 1200 pages & no pictures . . .

The funny thing about the fishing industry in this country.....it relies on foreign Labour.

Yup, more fishing means more immigration.

What did brexers vote for.....less immigration. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
