Indeed. However, I'm holding off saying anything much about him until I'm pretty sure that what we're being told is true ... and ditto as regards EFLI.

I do know he was a personal friend of the site owner, we exchanged private messages regarding caravan sites

I feel really bad.
I sent him a DM wishing him all the best for his op in Manchester, hoping I wasn't too late.

Interesting. Would that site owner perhaps have contact details for some member of his family (maybe Avril)? If so, whilst he might well not feel able to reveal that information, he might be prepared to communicate with them and invite them to contact 'us' - since I imagine that, if Harry is no longer with us, some of us (including myself) would probably like to send a few words to those he has left behind?
No need to feel bad - in situations such as we are, unfortunately, probably in there are always inevitably things that we wish we had done, or wished we had done earlier.
When my father died at a ridiculously young age, when I was 20 (amazingly, over 55 years ago), one of the most useful bits of advice I was given was to try to purge my mind of all "if only..." thoughts, since there would always be scope for such regrets, yet absolutely nothing to be gained by "crying over spilt milk"! I can't say that I managed to completely heed that advice, but trying to certainly helped a bit.

It has been brought to my attention that (ironically, in a post responding to a question from me) 'our Harry' revealed that he lived in Garforth (click here) , so I suppose that does, unfortunately, almost confirm that it is 'our Harry' who passed away. Very sad.

I go through the same thought process every time I hear someone who has just been diagnosed with a nasty illness, or who has suffered some personal/family catastrophe, saying "Why me?" or "Why us?" - since, given that 'these things happen' (to some people) they are effectively saying "Why not someone else?" !
The truth is, of course, that we are all essentially 'equal human beings' and all susceptible to all manner of misfortunes (including the universal inevitability of ultimate death), often essentially at random - so that, at least in terms of what we currently understand, most of it is just 'pot luck'!
A more philosophically, even theologically, appropriate question than "Why me?" would probably be "Why anyone?" (at least, until we started talking about death

You never seem to hear of horrible people getting these diseases or personal catastrophes though, do you? I’m thinking of the likes of dictators and mass murderers. Quite so. Truly horrible people are, fortunately, such a tiny proportion of the population that one would expect that the vast majority of 'misfortunes'/catastrophes would be suffered by people NOT in that category, even if it were totally random.
In practice, I doubt that it is completely random, since I suspect that, pro rata to their tiny numbers, a disproportionate proportion of 'truly horrible' people probably DO suffer 'bad fates' !
