Yup, not that unusual I`m afraid - but you knew that already - it is surprising the number of picture hang nails/screws you see see that would have actually hit the cable if it were not for the cables running quite diagonally instead - you know I am not kidding don`t you? LOL

That angled drop is terrible workmanship

The design of that switch reminds me of Legrand bit that seems unlikely

I remember my parents house with light switch screws top/bottom and wooden back boxes, the back boxes were a problem as the replacement switches to top/bottom lugs fouled the new switch.

As to micro bore, seems they liked the corner of the room, and T2 trunking, surface mount, seems plumbers feel their work is so good it should be on show.
