The other odd thing that I haven't seen on a boiler before is between the flow and return for the radiators is a link pipe with a gate valve at each end, what is it used for? some sort of balancing? Thanks

No the rad hasn't been removed, but it has been loosened so maybe it was low from the summer then loosening the rad was enough to trigger the low pressure warning. Thannks

thanks for that. I was thinking along the line of making a free standing door frame so I can paint the doors on both sides and not worry about them while they are drying and also then they don't stick to the frame when closed.

I have sprayed my house with a breathable waterproofer as my brickwork has become porus. I doubt that it can be painted over though.

Have you costed up having doors made? I am getting a front door made and it is costing about £250, it may be an option?
