    Plastered Ceiling Is This Acceptable?

Trying to patch with easi fill won't look to clever either. Esp when you get a lovely sunny day and the sun shines on the ceiling. Do the whole ceiling again with a competent person. I'd ask for your money back from the bodger who did the ceiling. How long did this bloke take to do the...

Fresh Skim vs tired anaglypta wallpaper

Quick call to an estate agent will answer your question. I agree its mote likely to win a sale rather than add value per se. But the agent should answer your question...

    Sodding Artex

Artex can be enough of a ball ache for a competent plasterer and can catch us all out... Don't even try to sand artex or plaster a whole. House...you either need a decent spread to do it or you will take £0000s of the value of your new home if you fix it yourself... This is a diy section...

How to spot a good plasterer?

The easy solution is let the one you trust do one ceiling and then review as you go along. Most spreads would refuse to enter into a "do the work now and be paid later" situation. If you waived a contract in my face for a small job like that I'd tell you to shove it where the sun shines...

    Ceiling Skimmed - questions

Also its a two hour set 2.5 tops. What was he doing for 5 hours. The combination of too cheap and too long to complete works tells you everything. I would charge 160 ish 110 was way too cheap.

    Ceiling Skimmed - questions

With a ceiling re skim you may get the odd pit or miss as no wall or ceiling will ever be 100% but if you have had a pro in it should be ready for painting with no further touch up work. Trowel marks and the need for sanding is a big no no. How big was the ceiling and how much did u pay...

Can "Bonding" be used for Rendering?

Roy is correct. Sack your builder. Hes a clueless chancer. Do you actually know where the damp is coming from cos that would be a good starting point.

Strange spots on ceiling after plastering

Deffo grease/oil stains from yrs of build up on the kitchen ceiling through cooking. As the plaster dries it sucks the contents of the substrate and it shows through the new plaster. Stain blocker will help if the plaster is ok. Seen this loads of times. The ceiling hs been reskimmed not...
