    Lining paper edges

Evening all. Unfortunately there are two rooms in our house which haven't been re-skimmed and need lining paper. When I started room by room, I had never had a decent go at lining paper so when I came to doing it there were a few mistakes. Although I correctly sized the walls and avoided any...

Paper off.. Plaster blown.. But how to preserve that nice coving?

Hi Another Victorian house held together by thick wallpaper. I've stripped it off, but unsurprisingly the plaster needs removing too. Is it possible to preserve that nice plaster coving? Or will it all fall down the minute chisel hits plaster? 20170530_130741 by MICH43L posted 30 May 2017...

To PVA or not to PVA

Stripped wallpaper from lounge walls. Under this was old emulsion over plaster, some emulsion came away with old paper leaving bare plaster. Having now filled and sanded I am ready to prepare the wall for re-papering. Advice from local major DIY store "specialist" was to use a 50:50 mix of PVA...

Hello everybody! I’ve just removed peeling lining paper from the walls of my living room and I’m now left with quite a lot of paste residue on the walls. I’ve just about resigned myself to steaming/scraping/sugar soaping the paste off as best as possible but just noticed a product that might...

What's causing this staining of wallpaper?

Hi, my first post as I venture into buying a home and doing it up. The house I want to buy has orange-ish dotted stains on the wallpaper at a few various locations around the house (some high, some low). It feels dry to touch. Any ideas what this is? Very grateful for any advice.

Kitchen Papered, now shrinking and lifting.

I papered my kitchen this weekend, and did a sterling job, or so I thought. 24 hours after finishing, the odd seem started to show; its very dark paper over a light pained wall, so it's quite obvious. Now 48 hours on, many more seems are showing and the paper is lifting quite badly. If I pull...
