Hi, We have a loft conversion in our house that was built in 1969 and was given a building regs certificate. I understand that building regs have changed since then and our conversion won't comply on things like a fire door and fireproof boarding. How do we stand when we want to sell the house? Do we have to make it comply to current standards? If so that would mean ripping it out an starting again :(

Thanks for your replies

If you think about it, then every house in the land would need to be altered every time building regs change and the house is sold afterwards

Well thats what I thought but we just had an electrician change our main board and he said it would all need upgrading.

Thanks for your help

It may well need upgrading, but due to age or a problem and nothing to do with building regs - although when it is upgraded it will then need to conform
