3 Phase Socket

2 dozen strings of fairy lights for the garden, 4x10 lamp festoon lights with fancy "chineese lantern" shades for in the tent and 6 fluorescents for the caterers?

no, only 63A single phase..
the rest is for the DJ and the Cooks..

not my party, just guessing :)

The word "Dimmers" makes me think this is some sort of lighting rig as in stage electrics?

Aye, for the disco
You gonna put your tender in for them Rob? I have a few of those moving mirror lights and about 100A worth of stage lighting kit, go havles?
Was clearing out a room yesterday and found another 3 fresnels, 2 patt 23 and a great big flood

I plan on having 12 channels of dimming. Each supplied via 63amp plug. Won't draw more than 63amp. Have done this a lot of the time, and monitored it closely, making sure I'm the only one to touch the controls.

I take it your in the entertainment industy?
Have you got access to a copy of BS7909:2008? Have you completed risk assessments including the likes of safety lighting?

All you need is 4 Car Pans and a couple of moving mirror fixtures :D

Unless I missed something - it is par cans :D

I sure am. A freelancer actually.

However this is a private party. To be exact my own private party. In terms of law, what requires me to fill out a risk assessment. It is in a marquee in my garden. So what, there might be a bit more "power" than normal, but it still is really just a private party in a marquee.

I have had previous parties, no risk assement, no fire officer and no safety lighting, however I have made sure that there is a clear exit in case of fire, and that nothing like cables or any rigging is hazardous.

In terms of lighting, it is as follows:
Outside:
6x 400W HMI Washes (not on dimmers)
2x 70x15w Festoon
4x Source 4 750w Profile Laterns
12x LED Par Cans

Inside:
4x MiniScan HPE (300w)
4x Mac250+ (250w)
6x LED Battens
10x Par cans (1kw)
4x Source 4 750w Profile Lanterns
4x 400watt UV Lights

=~23750watts
@~230V
=104Amps

That is divide across two of the phase leaving around 22 amps for sound, which is plenty.

Then there is another phase for caterers!

300 people, alcohol and no risk assessment is one heck of a risk don't you think?
Your moral obligation to those who are attending requires you to take care of those on your premises. Think of what could happen "IF" something went wrong and the power tripped. 300 people in a tent in pitch darkness isn't going to be nice.
Private party or not - if you do something wrong and end up killing someone you are still up for manslaughter!
If someone has an accident then you can still be sued for it.
I take it the caterers are being employed? HASWA will apply too.

Appropriate action will be taken to make sure that everything runs smoothly, but what can I do if the power trips? It could happen I agree, but there is only so much that I can do.

There will be am "assessment" obviously. Before the event I will make sure that:

Should there be a fire there is more than one way of exiting the marquee.

The bouncers will know exactly where people should go if there is a fire.

Shoud the power trip, that the bouncers will have torches to allow for an easy evacuation.

There is an easy cut off point for the music and a mic for making announcements.

If someone does have an accident, but everything has been checked and is perfectly safe, surely there is nothing that can happen. If it makes a difference, I know that I have PLI, should anything happen.

What can you do? That is what you need to decide in a risk assessment - you may choose to provide 3hr maintained lighting to adequately control that risk.
You may have PLI but that isn't going to keep you out of court/prison for negligence.
PLI isn't some mystical orb that surrounds you and makes you immune from prosecution!
Talking about fires - have you thought about how to evacuate 300 people? I take it the material the marquee is made of is flame retardant?
Bouncers with torches is only a good idea as a supplementary practice.
Bouncers for a private party? Is it really that bad where you live?
They are employees too.

All find out what I need to do, and if required get things like exit signs etc!

TIA
