It is doing that which was intended...... creating a superficial perception that there is a plan and it's working, to reduce immigration.
To be fair, they didn't claim that this was the only tool in the box.
That’s less than 300 a day. At their present rate, Labour could beat that figure in just 9 days.
In Sept 2025 an average of 101 have arrived per day.

I'd be even happier if they introduced a process for asylum seekers to apply while they are in France.
It would save the asylum seekers making the perilous crossing, and save the UK having to deport some back to France.
For the failed asylum seekers, while they were still in France, UK could make a commitment (to France) to deport them back to their country of origin.
