Because of life my friend.......
I sincerely hope he is OK. An erstwhile long standing and knowledgeable member of this site disappeared because of the politics in the General forum. AFAIK he is still OK. He did come back under new account... and then mocked me for not instantly recognising him.

The mods now have a option in the settings which will enable you to not see the GD subforum. I requested it. I don't come here to read "toxic" posts.

Not really necessary for me (nor, really, anyone!).
As has just been demonstrated, I do very well at 'not seeing' anything which happens in GD without the need for any 'settings'
