The majority of those who come from immigrant descent are British. They are entitled to everything a white Brit is.

I didn't say they wasn't...

But part of being British is respectful of others. Just because a 10% of people want a statue removed doesn't make it right, when the other 90% don't.

As I said we need to concentrate on the future not the past, the past is there to remind us of where we've come and the strides we've made, it's also to celebrate the good. We don't celebrate the bad that was done.

Statues are not there to celebrate the bad, they are there to celebrate the good.

The bad never happened to the people that want them pulled down, stop worrying about the past concentrat on the future.

Unfortunately you can't expect everyone to think the same as you, nor should you expect them to.
So wreck stuff instead..fek the debate..you either agree criminal damage is unlawful,or it is ok..Ourlaws do not allow to pick and choose which criminal damage is ok.

Thanks absolutely its a bizarre mindset which again just reaffirms the selfish mindset here. And the hypocrisy theres always a blame on someone else ir we can say or do that because of our colour no!! We are all equal. As I posted yesterday sometimes you have to take a look at yourselves and ask if theres a thing we could do to make a change.

Can we remove Mobo please I find it exclusive and that offends me. Or can we have Mowo?(imagine the outrage) that's hypocrisy.

Excellent points very well made

I agree - think of the future and the future may be (hopefully) end of racism. Those who wish to have statues which DO celebrate the bad as well as the good by their very existence may just have to understand that some things will have to move on, including those statues.

Personally I would prefer to see them in a museum, not the bottom of the sea because then if people wish to see them they can. This is instead of everyone having to see them and what they (now) represent whenever they walk by. Have a choice..

I really don't see why this is the end of British culture or the start of the demise of the British way of life. Those comments like that just strike me as immature, reactionary and without logic or understanding. And the comments on here about being a hypocrite or selfish because I don't think removing the statues are that big a deal are an eye opener too. Those going on attack are showing the same mindset as those they say they dislike - ie, no respect.

er thats the point, isnt? -black lives matter is a campaign to end racism, for the future.
they specifically are concentrating on the future.

very well put.

expect a backlash...."I suppose you want everything pulled down", "you dont believe in law and order, you just want mob rule".......blah blah blah :D

And when the debate is had...and the majority say keep the statue???? As happened in Bristol...What then???

racism doesnt affect 90% of people

so what you are saying is "Im alright jack, nobody shouts racist abuse at me, I dont give a flying furk"

What are you saying?? Debate wins or mob rule wins?

The thin end of the wedge principle applies in reference to this debate about statues and other British cultural symbols.

There is a rise in people using this obsession with race and religion to line their own pockets.

This guy claimed that a portrait of the Queen traumatised him because he had to walk past it every day.

Yeah, but if that 90% don't, because they didn't know it was there or what it stood for, that argument doesn't really stand.
I bet if you asked 1000 people last week who Edward Colston was, only a few at best would have known, and they would have been the ones who felt his statue was an insult.
