Hi to all, Can anyone give me an idea what would be an acceptable charge for fitting some spindles. I have a small landing & one flight of stairs that require this, it includes supply & as i've not given any details on requirements i expect they'll buy standard spindles from B&Q/Wickes, etc. I've have been quoted 400 for the job, this seems quite expensive but as I have no experience thought it would be worth getting a second opinion. The house needs a fair amount of skirting aswell & the total is in the region of 1200. Have already looked into doing this myself, think i'll be ok but not sure if i'll manage to do the spindles.

Its the whole lot on both bannisters, i'd say each is no more than 2m in length. Can't be sure as i'm working away at the moment.
The handrail & newel posts are staying so it's just the spindles.
Would be happy to have a go at the landing but not sure about tackling the staircase with the angles but if 400 is the going rate then I might just give it a go. As long as I've got the right tools i'll have a bash.

30 ish spindles at £2.50 to £8 =£75 to £240 =£40 other materials
so £115- £280 for materials plus 2 hrs running about for material so between £90 and £250 so the average is £170 for 1.5 to 2 days work
