Hi,

In my lounge the current set-up is: light switch at either end of the room (operating the same ceiling light).

Is it possible for me to replace one of these switches with a dimmer, or is it not so straight forward?

Thanks,

Gary

Yes, you just need to buy a 2way dimmer switch. Which type of lamps does the fitting use?

Thanks for the response - the lamps are 12v halogen (eight lamps in total), but the transformers are 'dimmable', so hopefully all should be fine with the 2 way dimmer as you suggested.

Cheers :)

What rating (watts) are the lamps in each fitting? You need to derate your dimmer when used with L.V. downlights.

They are 35 watts each Rob - will this cause a problem?

Just make sure the dimmer you fit has a rating of 400W. Otherwise no problems :D (makes a change!)

If you derate by 50% for tungsten halogen, your dimmer should be more than 400W.

Unless derating is not required on the part of the dimmer.
