adding spotlights t ring main?

I am ading 4x 20W Lv halogen recessed lights in my floorboards. To avoid the hassle of reaching the lighting loop can i merely take a 20Amp JB off the ring main and add a 13 Amp FCU for the Supply to my transformer?

A better solution is to add the FCU straight to the ring circuit. If you can't manage that then a spur to the FCU will be fine but use a 30A junction box.

Make sure you fit the FCU with a 3A fuse.

Do you realise quite how hot these get?


There will be a real danger of severe burns to children with curious fingers, and a dropped newspaper or item of clothing will very quickly catch fire



LEDs are the only real option for floor mounting, and even some of these get suprisingly hot.

Make sure the fittings you use are "F" marked.
