I put up a general handyman postcard but then a gardening or decorating or carpentry one as well so have two usually in one shop window. I have put a different phone number on other card. I thought if people noticed two of same phone numbers they wouldn't take me seriously. Am I overthinking it, should I just put the same number on both ads? There usually lots of trades advertsing in the windows I put mine in.

What if someone rings your handyman number asking for a price and then rings your other number asking for a price also as most people do like more than one quote. When they realise you are the same person I think most people will think you are trying to deceive them and not give you any business.

Yeah one number would be less hassle. The thing with handyman ads- i put three areas I can do. if they see you as jack of all trades (possibly not totally sure how people think but I worry this is how I am seen as a handyman) and dont take you too seriously- e.g. ask you to put a curtain rail back up, they won't ask you to hang doors or do more complicated things or want something done on the cheap etc. I have a chippy friend who would work with me so it's not like the work is too hard for me for difficult jobs (and him) it's just marketing. i guess if there's thirty ads in a window, chances are they wouldn't recognise one ad specialising in say decorating or carpentry and the handyman one having same number

Why don't you advertise on a singles website. And emphasis your a handy man who happens to be good with his hands.
