Of all the jobs that end in quarreling over pennies or embarrasing situations, it's friends and family 'mates rates' jobs.

Sometimes a necessary evil, but I'm usually unavailable if I can help it.

Too many customers expect a knock down price from tradesmen, or feel there's room for discount if it's cash payment. I wonder if they'd like having to barter for their wages each day when they turn up for work. Or perhaps they'd accept being asked to do an hour here and there for free.......

Don't care if system is drained down or what. They pay for time.
