hi can any one tell me what a amd turion mk36 laptop chip is like speed wise compared with desktop athlons. iveseen a nice acer laptop forsale with this chip in just wondered what the turions are like . are they better than the semprons?

turions should be better than sempron when they have a bigger l2 cache..but only just. As to comparing with desktops, bearing in mind power becomes an issue, then the desktop will be faster..
turions have, I believe about a 5w advantage over the sempron, but this will only help battery life by a few minutes..
for laptops i'd stick with intel - and get as much ram as you can afford!

I don't understand why you want to compare a laptop processor with a desktop one - either you want to buy a laptop or you don't.suffolklad said:
