Bristol is getting district heating. You know it's codswallop if the Guardian all over it.

Hope it is installed with good quality pipe work and an autoshut down system for when it leaks.

some old codger knows better and doesn't like combis

if that refers to me then I will remind / correct you. I do not dis-like combi boilers when they are installed in flats and apartments where due to space contraints installation of a hot water cylinder is not possible. My dislike is of the way combi boilers are sold to people whose home and life style are not suited to a combi boiler.
