Hi everyone,
I am re-building vintage racing bike and due to incompability of some modern parts I am looking foe someone who can do a small lathe job for me -to reduce diameter- roughly 2mm smaller by 1mm length, 1pc (really little job). I am located in East London E17 but as I am quite desperate to find someone I will be happy to travel anywhere within/close to M25 to get it done. Many thanks.

ya, you probably looked in to yellow pagines last time 20 years ago... small enginnering firms disappeared long time ago (at least in london area), thanks for advice to buy oxford lathe, unfortunately A) I got a budget so I cant buy a machinery equipment&tools for every single job I need B) I do not have space to install it anyway
I do not want to be ruth, but I thing I made myself clear about what/who I am looking for to perform one-time simple lathe job. The last thing I need are useless advices.

Do you know any teachers? Design and Technology staff could sort you out - or at least the old timers could for an exorbitant fee!
John :)

I live in N17 so not too far. For small metalworking jobs I have used AF Hussey in bounds green a few times and also ET Martin Tottenham. Hussey specialize in sheet work and normally work with stainless and ally but I'd be suprised if they didn't have a lathe. ET Martin mostly make lighting but they have a well equiped workshop.

From a quick search on yell.com I found these guys who are more local and specialize in engineering rather than fabrication:

Liversidge & Atkinson
Lambourne End, Romford. RM4 1AT
020 8500 2102

Oceanic Mechanical Engineers
319, Brettenham Rd, London, E17 5AT
Tel: 07752 342745
