Not that version, it was a theft of the LV neutral. I suspect current flow into copper gas pipes might have damaged them with the resulting explosion

One thing that would help would be to change the law to require scrap metal dealers to ask sellers to show identification and receive payments into their bank accounts.

I reckon that's a gas explosion too - I note the way that just prior to the first blast, the front door closes rapidly.

Nice footage - I watched that quite a few times (out of interest, not macabreness, I wouldn't want that to be my house)!

I saw that, but how does the blast wave reach the door before we see the light from the fireball?

If the source of the blast was close to the door, closing it almost immediately, would it not take a finite time for the fireball to propagate the the rest of the house (round corners etc.) before it showed itself?

Another possiblity would, I suppose, be a 2-stage process - an initial explosion, however caused (maybe 'directly electrical') which closed the door and ruptured the gas incomer, rapidly followed by the consequential gas fireball.
