When they privatised the leccy and gas etc, up went the prices but they put in off wot type chaps to look after us make sure were not overly exploited but then they get fat cat salaries and are useless and now every tom dick and harry is offering us cheaper power but they must all be getting a bit of it? now we got b&q offering it to us so what is that all about? how can B&Q make money from offering us cheaper energy?and is it really cheaper?
its crazy!

Richard, did all your punctuation get covered in lava and left behind in Italy?

Electricity is sold at high and very profitable prices by the PESs that used to be Regional Electricity Companies (and before that, local Electricity Boards).

They are able to do this because most of us are lazy simpletons and, out of inertia, carry on buying our Electricity from (e.g.) Scottish Hydro, or Southern Electric, or Swalec (all SSE); and our gas from British Gas (Centrica), and our telephones from BT - the "Incumbent Suppliers".

If we could be bothered to get off our fat arses and look up alternative suppliers, we could all save money, buying the same product delivered down the same wires or pipes) but charged at lower prices.

Funnily enough, all the PESs charge less to people outside their Regions than to their oldest customers; and sometimes (e.g. through Atlantic) charge less to their local customers using a different brand name, even though they are using the same staff and systems.

(and, here is a supply of punctuation for RichardP:

..,;' ()..,!,,?''::

yes please. but I see you've started with the question mark.

Unless B&Q are hosting the advert for nothing .. they'll make a little.
They do emphasis :D ...B&Q plc is not part of SimplySwitch... At the foot of the page ... ;)

:D

co-op radio!! Wow! never heard about that. we don't get it here but we do have a co-op shop which is crap but worth a visit just to see the folk that frequent it :D

nice picture of you Bas  is that your beard on the floor

Almost essential ... See history of price changes...
May not be clever moving to a cheaper supplier who is about to increase prices..

Good idea to know your average yearly kWh usage elec and gas.
Then use this U-Switch for comparison based upon annual usage .. It says 'begin switching' but one does not have to follow through - just get the comparisons.
I have checked several results - not all - manually and found them to be correct.
:D
