Hi, hope someone can answer this as it is very frustrating. Bathroom Cabinet installed with a pir motion sensor built in, however sensor is not very responsive (you have to touch it with your hand to get it to come on). I am wondering if the sensor could be to close to the basin and would that have any affect on it. Instructions seem to contradict themselves, as firstly they say min activation distance of 600 between sensor and any solid object, but then go on to say minimum of 300 so totally confused. See attached instructions. Any advice appreciated

It seems that the cabinet to which you are referring is from
https://www.hib.co.uk/products/cabinets/

Some detailed installation instructions are at https://www.hib.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/02-020-Fitting-Instructions-190322.pdf

(These instructions are in better English than that which you posted and they indicate "NB. Cabinets must be installed with a minimum distance of 150mm between the infra-red sensor switch and any adjacent wall or object to ensure correct operation of the sensor."
It also states "Operating Instruction. To switch on/off Slowly move your hand past the sensor.
AND
ETHER CABINETS ONLY To change the colour temperature 1. To alter the colour temperature of the cabinet, hold your hand underneath the sensor, the colour temperature will start to change. 2. Simply move your hand away from the sensor when the desired colour temperature has been reached and continue to operate the cabinet as normal - the chosen colour temperature will remain even after power is switched off and on again.)

A video indicating the operation of the sensor in turning OFF is at
but there is no demonstration of turning it ON.

Hi, thank you for reply. My cabinet is a Vapour cabinet as opposed to the exos you show. The vapour is supposed to come on with movement in the room apposed to waving at it. I am beginning to think it may be a faulty sensor and may have to go back

Yes.
Well it may help if YOU provide specific information in the first place.
https://www.hib.co.uk/products/cabinets/vapor-50/#videocontent

https://www.hib.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/02-018-Fitting-Instructions-V2.pdf
which contains the following (including the mistakes.)
Please Note This cabinets (sic) is controlled by a PIR sensor with a minimum activation distance of approximately 600mm between the sensor and any solid object/surface with a delayed response time of approximently (sic) two seconds. The cabinet will remain on until the PIR sensor is not obstructed for approximately 5 minutes. 1) These products must be installed with a minimum distance of 300mm between the infrared sensor switch and any surface or object to ensure correct operation of the sensor. The front edge of the basin should be less than 600mm when measured from the front of the cabinet 2)

Well it may help if YOU tried to give a constructive answer to my actual question rather than providing loads of information I already have

The instructions indicate a delayed response of approximately two seconds.
Are you certain that you are allowing sufficient time? Two seconds can sometimes feel like quite a long time!

It wont come on at all unless you physically touch the sensor with your hand. Even then it sometimes doesn't. Its very random whether it will come on or not
