I've just spent thousands having a new bathroom installed. I can't fault the plumber and tiler but they arranged for an electrician to fit the extractor fan and he has left it like this. He is blaming the plasterer and claiming the wall is not level. I have checked and that's not really true. Also, he left a cable clip exposed. If I can't get the electrician to return, how best to hide the gap?

Did you employ the electrician or did the main contractor?

Your first port of call is with the person you gave the job to

More likely to be the duct not installed properly if it goes through a cavity wall.
I'll bet it is a solid duct in the wall and it has been core-cut at an angle, making it impossible to fit the fan flat to the interior wall.
If that is the case, the duct hole should slope the other way....

But I agree with Sunray, its not your problem to sort. Very bad workpersonship.

Ahhhh the mysterious case of the duct not being square....

A situation I found in one of my rental properties, my solution was to cut one side off the fan spigot. I discovered the old spigots were smaller and more tolerent to misalignment.

Why is this extractor installed at all - wall clearly not painted or finished in any way, neither is the ceiling.
Is this one of those affairs where decorator imposters come in later and slap emulsion paint over everything?

Questionable location for the isolator on the adjacent wall.

Too late now, but we always try to avoid wall fans where possible. High quality in-line fans are more powerful and a lot quieter/ no back draughts etc.
