This boiler was installed in 2005 & has been for the most part pretty reliable.
The boiler has now stopped supplying hot water & a local boiler engineer reckons the diverter valve needs replacing & has comeback with a quote of £671 to replace, accordingly the whole bottom half of the boiler will have to come out to get to it. He seems to think once you start stripping out an "old" boiler other things start to go wrong opening a can of worms, as such (even if i said yes) he will not be held accountable for any further problems. He also reckons the boiler is uneconomical to repair & i would be better off replacing it.
Everything else is working fine.
As the boiler is coming up to 12 years do you think i should replace or repair?
If I replace, which boiler do i replace it with? I'd prefer not to have another Baxi reliable yes but the various bangs, crashes, whistling, whooshing sounds grate a little:)
Cheers.

lol, bg fixed price repair is about 180....use the rest for a holiday.

Is the boiler in poor condition or something ? Tell him to jog the fook on.

Ollski Afaik BG don't do fpr, they do tiered though and I think highest bracket is over 400 squid.

It only sounds like the hot water flow switch though, cant see that going into the high bracket.

advanced baxi ecoblue ;) , plus baxi parts are readily available plus parts are cheap and one of the quietest boilers on the market oh nearly forgot they are cheap as well . thats an old boiler you've got so those sounds are relativaly normal

Baxi 133 HE is a crock of shyte....you done well ....12 years FFS??

The usual fault with those symptoms is one that I correct for a total of £106 in my local area.

I think that Baxi do a fixed price repair for about £300.

For the prices you are being quoted I could come and stay in your local hotel and you would still save about £300 !

Tony

Thanks for the replies chaps, so a fix it is then....anyone know a good heating plumber nr Basildon ;)

The boiler senses the hot water tap is open boiler fires as normal but there is no hot water, does that mean the flow switch is ok?

Cheers.
