`mate from Uni had a dolly sprint. 16v engine with overdrive button if I recall. I think it was the engine that ended up in the Saab 900 turbo.A dolly Sprint is the only Sprint for me.

Yes, Sprint was quite a performer. A match for a Golf GTi. Other way around with the engine, it was in Saab 99 turbo before being used in Dolomite.
I don't think so, I thought it was Triumph who supplied the engine to SAAB. Therefore, it was a Triumph engine to begin with.
I believe Triumph designed it, but was used in Saab first. I would have to check though.
Well done that man.
Edit; although it was a Triumph engine, it wasn't the actual Sprint engine that SAAB used first.

I heard the basic engine was designed by SAAB, but built by Triumph for them. Then Triumph later redesigned it.

I'm not offended by being mistaken for a Glaswegian, because despite being born in Edinburgh, the rest of my family were born in Glasgow.
