Best Sledge Hammer for D.I.Y.?

What would you recommend as the a good Sledge Hammer, wight, materiel, made from etc for D.I.Y.?

We have one now with a composite stale. It has outlasted the wooden ones but does not feel as good. I'd buy another if this one ever gets lost.

My sledge hammer is is about 11" tall and weighs about 2lbs. It's has amazing qualities. If you hit a wall of concrete with it, it will take the wall down!!

Only I like Thor, can weild it.

7lb is a good everyday weight but you'll do more good with 14 on heavy jobs. A heavy hammer moves things where a light one will tend to mushroom steel components

Keep an eye on Lidl/Aldi, thats where mine came from. As Noseall composite stale.

Depends on what you use it for, but 7lbs is normally enough for DIY work. Using the correct method helps with better results from a lighter hammer.

Can't stand the things, perhaps mine is particularly terrible but I feel like my arms and shoulders have been shaken apart for days after if I use mine.

I use anything else - especially a breaker drill. Or a breaker bar - tap it in with a club hammer then lever apart.

I suppose use is limited, to how many ships one launches? I assume that's what they are for? Knocking away the wedges, so the ship can slide on the sledges into the water?

But for other use, depends on how strong you are, a 14 lb over ones head likely to do more than a tap with a 28 lb because too heavy to lift over ones head.
