My sledge hammer is is about 11" tall and weighs about 2lbs. It's has amazing qualities. If you hit a wall of concrete with it, it will take the wall down!!
7lb is a good everyday weight but you'll do more good with 14 on heavy jobs. A heavy hammer moves things where a light one will tend to mushroom steel components
Keep an eye on Lidl/Aldi, thats where mine came from. As Noseall composite stale.
Need a bit more force when hammering? Use this 6lb sledge hammer from Minotaur - the 880mm shaft is designed for use with two hands when more power is required for each blow.Offering you more leverage and greater momentum, the shaft also includes soft-grip zones to keep your hands comfortable...
Can't stand the things, perhaps mine is particularly terrible but I feel like my arms and shoulders have been shaken apart for days after if I use mine.
I use anything else - especially a breaker drill. Or a breaker bar - tap it in with a club hammer then lever apart.
