What would you recommend as the a good Sledge Hammer, wight, materiel, made from etc for D.I.Y.?

My old one was nicked thanks.

We have one now with a composite stale. It has outlasted the wooden ones but does not feel as good. I'd buy another if this one ever gets lost.
 
My sledge hammer is is about 11" tall and weighs about 2lbs. It's has amazing qualities. If you hit a wall of concrete with it, it will take the wall down!!

Only I like Thor, can weild it.
 
7lb is a good everyday weight but you'll do more good with 14 on heavy jobs. A heavy hammer moves things where a light one will tend to mushroom steel components

Keep an eye on Lidl/Aldi, thats where mine came from. As Noseall composite stale.
 
Depends on what you use it for, but 7lbs is normally enough for DIY work. Using the correct method helps with better results from a lighter hammer.
