Best way to finish off bricking up window

This is my first ever time bricklaying and I would love some advice as to the best way to complete bricking up the garage window with class b engineering bricks.

What to do What not to do?

I want to put shelves up on the other side. Garage is single skim

LOL.. my Dad did the exact same thing about 3 years ago when he was bricking up a garden wall FFS !!!.. How.. just stand back and take a look!... mind you, he was 85 then...
