I am delighted that we have finally left the EU and that Brexit is finally complete.

Everyone tried their utmost to stop it but it has been achieved in the end.
I would like to thank Davey for finally giving us a referendum ( 2 terms after being elected! but hey ho ). I would like to thank Uncle Nigel for keeping the pressure on the Tories at all times.

Davey quit the morning after the referendum results; May came and went; Labour MP's constantly making the govt. lose in every vote during May's time; BBC, Telegraph, Guardian being exposed as anti-Brexit ; Laura ****sberg becoming my like-to-bitchslap person of the century; Gina miller going to court again and again - what a rollercoaster ride it has been.

Brexit is finally complete
Wrong.

Negotiations for financial services start in Jan.

And the weak trade deal for goods means constant negotiations.....as UK is tied to EU rules and any divergence on LPF means tariff wars.

Oh and fish....that's been kicked down the road for 5 years.

Look at the bigger picture. Brexit has been done.

At least English baguettes are superior to the dry as a bone French rubbish

No it hasn't. It has started. You are mistaking a meaningless political slogan for an accurate statement.

That what Doris wanted you to do.

Gosh isn't this new freedom wonderful.

It's a wonderful feeling....
by the way what actual extra freedom do I have :D

Not so fast. The 'benefits' have already started. Even if there were any flights and most of us weren't banned from going anywhere - we couldn't. Not to Portugal for a well earned hol at least. We just made life for ourselves and our kids a whole lot more difficult.

And this from a country that actually likes The Brits and needs our currency. Suddenly feels a bit lonely stuck on this cold, damp $h!tty island.

Is this the same Portugal that were begging for an air bridge in the holiday season? So they are banning Brits that can’t travel in their off peak season? Big deal!

Rubbish. How come those in other EU countries can still travel there and Brits with residency in other EU countries can still travel there? And this was brought in 1st Jan 2020.
Read the article.
Portugal added to England’s travel quarantine list amid pandemic
Portugal is usually a popular holiday spot with Britons over the spring and summer months. The country is known for its spectacular coast line and vibrant cities. Due to the current coronavirus situation, travel abroad has remained largely uncertain with a plethora of countries introducing entry requirements.
..
Last night, the UK also officially left the European Union,
i.e a coincidence.
Duped again.

That's the official line. Bit of a coincidence it started on 1st Jan 2021. And to quote the article - "Portugal is currently permitting air travel from EU member states". Yes, bit of a coincidence!

Not a coincidence at all. Many new restrictions have been introduced on specific dates.
It would be a nonsense for Portugal to restrict air travel from Schengen areas, but allow them access by land. How would they restrict that? I believe it's the longest land border in Europe. UK was never in the Schengen zone so the restrictions would have been applied irrespective of Brexit.
All countries are allowing residents to enter. Some may require a negative test. Others may require isolation, etc.
It's purely an issue due to Covid, but you were misled by the article. An easy mistake for some. Some articles in some press are designed to mislead the gullible. And they fall for it every time.

They closed the border in the Spring.

That's hardly the case. Germany, France, not to mention Spain which is obviously the same length plus has border with France as well.

That is true.
