Hi,
We seem to have a blocked toilet.
Its the downstairs loo, think its due to new luxury thick loo paper!
I cleared out everything in the bowl, put bleach down and left it (twice), also put boiling water down twice (advice from other sites). The water level slowly returns to normal.
I have now made a plunger with the mop, binbags and duct tape. It certainly did something - water/muck (but not waste) came up the sink plus there was lots of gurgling in the box thing thats in the corner of the downstairs loo (the toilet is built into the wall, so no access to cistern etc). After much plunging the toilet seemed to clear normally, so tried 2 sheets of loo paper - but it didn't clear and is back to draining slowly (however, not as slow as before).
When you run the tap there is gurgling/bubbling in the loo.
(We have a communal septic tank as live out in the country, the other toilets/sinks are all fine in the house).
Any suggestions or is it time to call the plumber?
