Since we may decide that we want to replace the socket sometime in the future.

You might want to consider these as an alternative. they would be an easier way of bringing the socket back in to use in the future. £1 for a pack of 5 from The Range... Other suppliers are available

Uk sockets are child safe , the blanking plates make them less safe .Interesting, I wonder why they are still so readily available and selling then has not been banned in the UK![]()

I have repeatedly demonstrated to a local churchs officials how easily these ****ing things cause problems by partially inserting the earth pin upside down then giving it a thump which typically pushes it right in and snaps off. Each time they go round and dispose of them but within a few months they get replaced.I wonders how long it would be before someone posted this
F*** no. All those things do is turn sockets into a game, and provide an easy way for kids to defeat the very good built in protection gate that seals off the live terminal
Simply turn that thing upside down and push it into the earth pin hole to open up the live, then let a child stick a finger/small metallic object in
Anyone considering use of those things needs a reality check

And people are thick/don't know how sockets work
