Bloody Angian Water

H

hollywood

Arrived home to find they have fitted a water meter on the supply stopcock outside my house, got on the blower to them and they refuse to remove it as them claim they won't be billing me or measuring my usage!
I've told them it's coming out, does anyone have a plug/cap I can fit when I remove the meter? it's in one of the new type underground box/tubes and the isolation valve is quarter turn.
Bloody cheeky bsatards doing a big brother on me! What a waste of money.

its on there side so surly you cant touch it???

you haven't just moved in have you??
if your an old customer at that address they can only go by the rateable value

its fairly standard practise to fit meters with new customers to a premesis maybe they are fitting the area

Thames Water fitted a meter with a label saying for audit purposes only.

Then they started charging according to the readings!

they cannot charge you by the meter unless you requested it or are new to that address

To clafrify, it's a Victorian house, on reading the letter posted through the door, I phoned them and they said it was part of there advanced scheme, and they are not billing me through the meter or checking what I use, yeh right!

So what a waste of time & money, it's coming out, where do I get a plug or can somebody send me one.

We need to stick together and take them on.

They are liars, and are wasting millions on these programs just to try and convince the government to enforce compulsory metering.

Can't people see this is only the start!

Its a sign of things to come when all properties will be charged by a metered supply. It certainly focusses the mind and you waste not a drop. Its their supply and not to be interferred with.Happened to me and after a year of checking readings I decided to go with metered bills and charges went down.

I thought the ODPM (Prescott) gave Anglian water amongst others the legal right to install water meters to every property that they supply. They will at some point in the future charge by the measured supply but for now...... You get to choose.

Baloney. Why would anyone be interested in your bathing habits? They will send you metered bills if you ask for them. Otherwise they just use it to work out how much of their water reaches the consumers and how much is lost to leaks. It's their water, their pipe and it's not on your property. Take it out and they'll put it back and charge you. Do it again and they'll do you for criminal damage.

If you don't like that, drill a well.

whilst i hate being told what to do more than most in this instant i dont see a problem a family off four with basic economy measure will pay no more than now
if they realy go to town they can save money

i had previously avoided a meter incase when i sold it was a young family but thats not applicable any more
so i asked for a meter to be fitted once i found out they where automaticly fitted for new customers

initially i was very anal and saved the bath water for the cistern but when i found out my bath with 59L off water in only worked out at 10p [£1.70p a c.u.m.] i then restricted it to 1 fill off the cistern at around 12L then clean the bath lol

anyway my bills have transformed from £240 a year for me and my son to £120 or £10 a month although i am using slightly less so nearer £9.80

Apparently they say they are not reading the meter so how will they know it's removed and how can they prove it's been removed by me.

Seriously, why would you think they're interested in how much water you use, unless you run a hydro-electric plant from it?

I believe the meters are read by an electronic device from above ground, so they'll know it has gone.

Your electric bills are monitored to flag up high consumption, such as for hydroponic cultivation of the herbal tobacco. And damned right too, I've seen close up what that stuff does to nice kids; the scare stories are an understatement.

Kev, I don't know whether you found that funny or whether you think I'm daft. However, it's true. By coincidence this programme was broadcast on BBC 4 TV yesterday.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00qbbwd/Cannabis_Britains_Secret_Farms/

.Presenter Rickie Haywood-Williams attempts to find out the true impact of the UK's skunk-smoking habit and accompanies Avon and Somerset police on raids on homes and warehouses. (R)

In 2002, Britain produced 15 per cent of its own cannabis. In 2010 that figure is 90 per cent, and police around the country raid at least three factories every day. Organised gangs are cashing in on widespread demand for cannabis among Britain's youth by setting up sophisticated factories in suburban homes and disused warehouses. Research shows a third of the UK's 15-year-olds have tried cannabis and a quarter of young people aged 16-24 smoke it regularly.

Presenter Rickie Haywood-Williams journeys beyond the scaremongering headlines to find out the true impact of the UK's skunk-smoking habit. Rickie accompanies Avon and Somerset police on raids, and rides in a heat-seeking helicopter as it uncovers cannabis farms with hi-tech thermal imaging equipment. He also meets a landlord who was horrified to find his tenant was in fact part of an organised gang who were farming cannabis in every bedroom of his house."

The amateurs had half-a-dozen plants in their lofts. The professionals rented a house, by-passed the meter, grew cannabis in every room, got a £500,000 crop and left an £8-10k electric bill.

The programme also showed some of the nice middle-class families whose kids smoked and became paranoid schizophrenics or killed themselves. Skunk isn't the same stuff we knew in college/uni 20+ years ago.

Youv;e been brainwashed, i KNOW. :!:

I sincerely regret not, mate.

A close friend smoked regularly. He is now paranoid-schizo, gets Jesus delusions and is occasionally sectioned when he doesn't take his medicine. He was a basket case at 30, won't ever work again. Which is strange, because he was a smart kid, genius level IQ, MSc in electronics, repaired electronic equipment that his bosses had binned, etc.

He's been brainwashed.
