Hi

Friends had cause to get a C/H service man in to get our wall mounted combi boiler going whilst we were away and he removed the boxing in that had been placed around the flu( pipe internally).

He has not refixed it and we wondered if this was for a safety or operational reason?

We had previously had safety checks carried out and this was not raised as an issue?

Welcome any suggestons. The pipe is white enamelled so thinking we will just clean p the wall and ceiling and paint them and not bother about the boxing in. If we do this what is best way to fill the gap between wall opening and the pipe?

There should probably be at least 25 mm between the flue pipe and any wood.

The flue MUST be sealed where it goes through the wall!

Its quite comon for a boiler engineer to take off any coverings but leave it for a carpenter/decorator to replace as that works out cheaper.

You have not said what the problem was.

The best thing is to call him on the telephone number he gave you on the receipt to ask.

Thanks Tony

System pressure droppe is all that was wrong which is why we were puzzled at the removal of the wood.

Pipe is sealed relative to wall for fume ingress but looks por where it passes through plaster.

Will chase friends for receipt

Cheers
