Boiler Replacement Quote - Labour

Atag 24 system boiler, flue and wall mounted in same position as original boiler, removal of CH motorised valve (replace with 2 port valve for HWP), removal of existing pump, fitting of ABV and boiler filter plus radiator flushing ( 2 days). wiring changes to connect to existing smart controls. Price ?

Not many in their right mind would be able to give an accurate price without seeing the job!!

So you're commenting from a position of total ignorance?

What a ridiculous thing to say.

In London, the labour rate for a plumber/GSR engineer is £250/day IME.

Where have I said I'm in the trade or know what the costs of running a business in this trade are? All I've given is my experience of what I've been quoted. Jeez. I know some of you are plumbers and feel protective of your profession, but stop having a pop at people for giving their honest opinion on something. Next someone will chime in to say how anyone working for £250/day is probably shoddy or not GSR registered.

Guys - I think that I have enough to be going with. Thanks.

how the fook can anyone work for £250 a day :):p

remember if you've had someone recommended and you don't like the price then say fook off then , get someone cheap and then don't come back here and moan it doesn't work properly or faulty ( in all sorts of ways  ) . this is the most used appliance within your home and you moan about an extra couple hundred quid maybe , just think about it ;) . plus your choosing the most busy time of year for an install . why don't you get British gas in for a quote ;) then give us your view :). we have no clue about your house for the install so a price is pie in the sky as far as giving a quote , but someone here could probably install it with a couple of lengths of copper and a bit of cable with a standard price :whistle:;):)

Unless I've got nothing better to do than make it up.
plenty have ;) where have i said i don't believe you anyway  who would you rather have , someone who is recommended or someone you don't know just to save a couple hundred quid ?????;)

That I agree with. For anyone who has had a bad experience, going with someone you trust is invaluable to avoid the stress of having a bad workman.

Some poor buggers work all day every day for minimum wage. There are delivery drivers paid 60p per parcel delivery and paying for their own transport. To them £250 a day would be an impossible dream.

While you can be sympathetic, no one should work for peanuts in 2016. We're skilled Tradesmen(unless you're a course cowboy), 4-5 year apprenticeship, qualifications & loads of experience. We work on water, Gas & electrics - no other trade deals with that dangerous combination in a domestic environment. We deserve top dollar!!

An average home owner is clueless regarding business on-costs & overheads.

Olive & I have been through 9-10 house painters before we found one we're happy with. Cost is never an issue, you want someone you trust, like & will leave a good job.

Dan are you saying that we should be charging for pipe, fittings, consumables wear and tear on our tools ,insurances , taxes , registration fees, transport , parking charges, training, calibration of specialist equipment, accountants fees, advertising, phone costs, office costs, staff costs, dont you know that we get all these free

If you're willing to itemise those items, go right ahead. Or are your invoices far more sensibly spilt into "bulk stuff" and "time it took to install and test the stuff". That being the case, it's little surprise if the man on the street thinks it "only labour".
