I think I mentioned on another thread about refusing to answer questions.
Would stop some footfall to site and then advertising revenue which would hit site owners in pocket though.
It's up to them to police it properly.
If they don't (which they seem to be doing) then we need to decide how we as a collective proceed.
To be fair they dont need to 'police' it, its a site preference / rule, there is absolutely no dictate that safe gas work procedures are only the preserve of a chosen few.
Think you need to read the GSIUR then.
Have a lot of time for you @ollski but you seem to be giving very bad advice of late.
Jon

Why don't the Mods nip it in the bud???!!!

Jon I'm sorry if it comes across wrong but I hate censorship in any form. If somebody is interested in the mechanical process of a machine I'm familiar with then I will tell them, their competence to use the information is guided in the GSUIR and is for them to assess. If I've given incorrect advice i will gladly remove it.
Why moan about the mods, anyone can ask a question, just don't answer it if you disagree; don't have a go at the mod or the enquirer, have a go at the person that answered it.

But his missus who lived said he took advice from @Gaswizard on diynot forum and he told him to fit it.If the non registered feel the need to carry out repairs then crack on with it , they only have themselves to blame if it all goes tits up and someone gets killed....You need to pay a registered gas installer to repair your gas boiler!!! It appears it's repeated every second thread on this forum!!!
Replaced gas valve on a Vaillant Ecotec , out the box CO was around 65,000 PPM with CO2 in excess of 11%....
If the DIYer possess the knowledge and equipment in order to correctly set combustion then as said crack on.![]()

Do you think you will get a chap on the door?
That's why we need to watch how and what we advise on.

Well then, the DIYers have all of the information that they need to sort their boiler out don't they? They don't need advice from here. I think you will find that each boiler manual does have a paragraph or two stating clearly that gas installations should be carried out by suitably qualified persons, so they are off the hook. You need to pay a registered gas installer to

This is the odd paranoia which has invaded the site in the last 10 years, if this was possible manufacturers would have been having to defend themselves constantly for supplying instructions containing detailed fault finding and step-through parts replacement. I have no problem with job preservation and not helping for that reason, but I hate the nannying we seem to have self imposed on ourselves to the 'general public', whoever he / she is.........
