No one does, as it has been proven not to be a deterrent. It does mean that they will be killed in prison in 30 - 40 years rather than die in prison naturally.

Those opposed to the death penalty because a low number of innocent people will be killed should remember that a few thousand innocent people are killed in car accidents every year, and yet we don't consider abolishing the car.
Prison doesn't deter crime either, let's empty them and let the boat people live there, they'll be there eventually anyway FACT

The idea that prison, or any sort of punishment doesn't stop crime is a left-wing lie. Punishment that is hard enough and prison sentences that are long enough stop crime.
Britain's prisons are not really prisons!
