Hi all,

I have recently completed a doorway widening project with a Catnic box lintel:

It has lots of pre-drilled 5mm holes, presumably for fixing stuff to:

What is the best way to attach plasterboard/fireboard to box it in?

Should I use fixings? What fixings should I use? They would have to go through the holes and somehow hook behind them?

Or can it just be glued on? With what?

Plenty of info and how-to's out there for RSJs - but none for these.

Any suggestions most welcome.

Dab some plasterboard on it using dry wall adhesive.

We'd cut some 5" fillets first and dab out the lintel hollow.

We'd then cut another full width piece that spans from the ceiling down to 20mm or so lower than the bottom of the lintel - dab that on (both sides).

Then dab the slot on the underside of the lintel.

Piece of chocolate fudge brownie.(y)
