Budget

But the need gets paused, and during that pause that's when businesses struggle.

This government can't see that, so is adding fuel to the fire by loading costs onto employers at the worst time. ie the employers NI and minimum wage increases.

Business is always cyclical, but every time a high cost to start up business (like a manufacturer) shuts down, its rare that a new entrant starts up when the economy improves again, particularly in the SME world. That's why we've become so service based and have allowed manufacturing to whither on the vine.

It’s very tough being a business when costs go up, cash flow disappears and it becomes a struggle to pay the bills each month.

But unfortunately that is exactly what has happened to people: wages have stayed static whilst costs of rent, energy, have all gone up. We now have millions of people that can’t afford to heat their homes, and millions that can’t afford to get enough to eat.

Are you saying that you prefer people to suffer just so long as businesses don’t suffer?

I accept that employers national insurance rise + rise in minimum wage has made it difficult for businesses…..but do you accept that the govt needs to raise more money abd has to get it from somewhere. If so, where did you want taxes to rise?

The mess the economy is in, is the mess the Tories made, they put permanent damage in place to business competitiveness with Brexit and then they just ran down the clock leaving prisons, NHS, public sector pay rises, strikes, unfunded tax cuts, budget shortfall all outstanding for the next govt to deal with.

Carman the MOT tester is an expert in business and economics, you’re just a MD running a company with 100 staff.

Like furlough then
It’s obviously going to get rolled out to all vehicles as an additional tax.

Meanwhile EV and PHEV owners will need a mini MOT to check thier mileage. That I assume won’t be free.

And of course a PHEV with a tiny engine and big range will be the “winner” paying half the fee.

He found find a tenant willing and able to pay £100.

He didn't find a tenant willing and able to pay £102

If he had done, that's what he would have charged.

Tenants available spend does not vary according to the tax rates, or the mortgage interest rates, or the cost of school fees, of the landlord.

If the landlord charged £100 when he was paying 40% income tax, what will he charge if he drops into the 20% tax band?
What you are pretending not to understand. Is that a flat cost applied to all universally gets passed down.

…who up until Brexit, often worked in the EU for free. Brexit put a stop to that and he's complaining!
You must be annoyed by the fact people could afford to do that.

Shame you're not aware of how other people work and live

She clearly said that the lower paid will not pay anymore tax. They will. By freezing the basic rate, above which people will pay tax, 800,000, yes Eight. Hundred. Thousand. low paid employees WILL pay more tax.

Think I've been running my own business for a few months or something?

Just mots do you think?

I've seen many business' fail, and as far as I can remember, not 1 was the fault of the owner or managers. It was always something else that caused it.

Any business that is struggling because of a minimum wage increase isn't doing that well. I thought a high flying captain of industry, who was also a world class lawyer would actually know that.

I don’t think you run a business with a 100+ staff. I don’t think you’ve been a non exec director. I don’t think you’ve advised a board or even been on a board.

The nonsense you spout about how a business works and even your understanding of simple accounting terms shows that your experience is as much as your accountant explains, when he files your self employment returns.

He's a part-time self employed peripatetic mot tester at best. He's never mentioned being an employer or having staff.

And do you think a rise in minimum wage that hurts a business is a sign of a healthy well run business?
